This is a #storygram (mini-story) from my Instagram, which you can get to via the social media links at the top of this site. I do my best to make them daily for you to enjoy! YES, many of them will hopefully be expounded upon in novels or other future writing endeavors of mine. Thank you very much for reading and sharing them! The Story:

He had been riding his motorcycle for days, headed nowhere in particular. It was a college graduation gift from his parents, and a road trip with it was the perfect way to kick off his new life.

He was exploring a beaten path that was miles off the main road but decided it was time to get back. Rolling to a stop in front of an abandoned store, he turned the engine off and stretched while his GPS searched for a route.

The abandoned store gave him an uneasy feeling, as if the windows had eyes. He checked his GPS, which displayed an error of having no satellite connection, but he didn’t want to wait. He mounted his bike to travel down the road more, but before he started it, he heard a squeaking sound. It was the store’s front door slowly opening.

Every shred of paranoia within him fully expected to see a ghost or some medieval creature, but there was none. Instead, a beautiful girl in a white dress stood in the doorway, beckoning him to come to her.

All of his fears about this place fell out of his mind, and he went to her. She smiled and motioned for him to enter. As soon as he had cleared the door, it slammed shut. The girl, still smiling, walked up to him and kissed him.

He knew something wasn’t right, but he didn’t care. He kissed her for what seemed like minutes, enjoying the best lips he had ever tasted–until she vanished.

He stumbled forward, opening his eyes to nothing but a dark, empty room.

“Uh… Miss?”

Nothing. His fear returned, and he wanted nothing more than to get home. He turned and opened the door, only to find his bike rusted with flat tires.

He thought there must be some mistake–a different bike, perhaps. Examining it closer, he saw his reflection in its chrome accents. There were wrinkles around his eyes and cheeks. He had a long gray beard, and he was completely bald. He gasped and fell backwards.

Looking around, he realized that everything appeared as though it had aged decades. As he caught his breath, the feeling of being watched returned.

He slowly turned his head to look at the store, untouched by time, and saw the girl through the window, smiling.
