The Story:

Matt hopped onto the rusted roof of a junkyard car and placed his fists on his hips. The other two boys studied their king for weaknesses, having no intention of remaining his subjects.

“Bow before the king of Metal Mountain, minions!”
“You say all them ‘M’ words too fast and your brain will blow up. I seen it happen once.”
“That’s stupid, Robbie. You didn’t see nothin.'”
“Yeah, huh! My daddy seen it!”
“Hello! I’m turnin’ into an old king up here!”

Robbie climbed onto the hood of the car, and Derick climbed onto the trunk. Matt was bigger than the other two, and past experience had taught them that they couldn’t overpower him, individually.

“Okay, Robbie. One… Two… Three!”

They rushed Matt from both sides and grabbed his arms. The three of them wrestled for a couple of minutes before the sound of an approaching vehicle paused them in an interlocked position. When they saw a Bronco rolling up the dirt path through the junkyard, all three of them dove to the ground, fearing they might be caught playing there, which many whippings had yet to stop them from doing.

Matt shoved the other two off of him. Each boy squatted in between the cars and peered over a hood to watch the Bronco. It stopped behind a broken red muscle car. Two men with guns jumped out and walked to the back of the vehicle where they pulled out an old man with his hands tied behind his back.

“Let’s get outta here, Matt.”
“Shut up, Robbie,” Matt and Derick snapped at the same time.

They could only hear part of what the men were saying.

“Open the — old man!”
“—try and — maybe you’ll — with the treasure.”

The boys looked at each other with wide eyes, wondering if they had all heard the same word.

The old man pressed several times on the door to the muscle car. When he stopped, the entire back end of the car lifted into the air like a hatch, revealing a stairwell going into the ground. The old man lead the others into it and out of sight.

“Matt, no. No!”
“Yeah, we’re going.”
“Guys, come on,” Robbie pleaded.

Matt took off for the opening and was soon followed by the other two.
