The Story:

He pushed on the backdoor, but it was locked.

“Volks! Come on, man, open up!”

No one answered. He pounded on the door with his fist and sighed.

“We already know what you’ve been doing, Volks.”

Volks had given him trouble in the past but nothing like this. He was a good guy, overall, but orders were orders.

He reached into his jacket and pulled out a rounded pistol that had a blue glow emitting from the barrel. With one swift kick, the door came crashing down for him. He walked straight into a kitchen and grabbed the startled Volks by the top of his apron.

“Hey! Hey, Mike! What brings you out…”
“You know why I’m here, Volks. Where are they?”
“My customers? They’re all out there happily chewing on my terrific meals, Mike! Can I make you a pl…”
“Last time, Volks.”

He pushed the tip of his weapon into Volks’ abdomen.

“Okay, okay! Freezer, Mike! The freezer!”

Mike shoved him over to the freezer and made him open it viagraindian.com. Inside were rows upon rows of frozen creatures, each no bigger than Mike’s fist.

“I’m sorry, Mike. But business was down, and everyone loves these things.”

He swung his gun, striking Volks across the mouth. Volks stumbled back, cradling his bloody lip.

“Creatures? They’re intelligent, Volks!”

Volks spit blood onto the ground.

“Yeah… And delicious.”
“Defenseless. You’re sick, Volks.”
“Maybe… But at least I’m not a traitor to the human race.”

The majority of the world saw them as just another animal—the best meat on Earth. But they were sentient, and Mike had sworn to protect them. He wasn’t prepared for another traitor accusation.

Mike pointed his special pistol at Volks and fired. Volks was instantaneously immobilized, but his eyes were still shifting around.

“I was supposed to give you a citation.”

He picked up the chef and dropped him onto the freezer floor. The sound of several fingers breaking echoed through the freezer. Volks couldn’t make any sounds, but Mike could see the pain and panic in his eyes.

“But I think you need to have an accident instead.”

Mike exited the freezer and shut the door.
